These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the TrashAlert SD service ("Service") operated by TrashAlert SD ("we," "us," or "our"). By signing up, you agree to these Terms.
1. Description of Service
TrashAlert SD is a subscription SMS reminder service for San Diego residents. We send you a text message the evening before your scheduled trash and recycling collection to remind you which bins to put out. This is a recurring message program.
- Program name: TrashAlert SD
- Message frequency: Approximately once per week (the evening before your collection day)
- Message and data rates may apply. Contact your wireless carrier for details.
- Subscription fee: $4.00 per month, billed monthly via Stripe.
2. Eligibility
You must be a resident of San Diego serviced by the City of San Diego Environmental Services Department and at least 18 years old to use this Service. Addresses served by private haulers may not be compatible.
3. SMS Consent and Opt-Out
By providing your mobile phone number and completing signup, you consent to receive recurring automated SMS messages from TrashAlert SD. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
To opt out at any time, reply STOP or CANCEL to any message from us. You will receive one final confirmation message and no further messages will be sent. Your subscription will be cancelled and no further charges will be made after the current billing period.

4. Billing and Cancellation
Your subscription is billed at $4.00/month. Your card will be charged on the same day each month following your initial payment. You may cancel at any time by:
- Replying CANCEL or STOP to any reminder text.
- Emailing trashalertsd@gmail.com.
- Calling (858) 212-0730.
Cancellation takes effect immediately upon request. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.
5. Accuracy of Schedule Information
We make reasonable efforts to keep trash collection schedules and holiday adjustments accurate using publicly available City of San Diego data. However, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of reminder timing or schedule information. Always verify collection days with the City of San Diego Environmental Services Department if in doubt.
TrashAlert SD is not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of San Diego.
6. Limitation of Liability
TrashAlert SD is provided "as is." We are not liable for any missed collection, late fees, penalties, or other damages resulting from inaccurate or missed reminders. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the prior 30 days.
7. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may update these Terms or change the price of the Service at any time. We will notify you by SMS or email at least 14 days before any material change takes effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of San Diego County, California.
