Last updated: April 21, 2026
TrashAlert SD ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website trashalertsd.com and provides SMS trash collection reminders to San Diego residents. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

When you sign up for TrashAlert SD, we collect:
- Mobile phone number — used to send you SMS reminders.
- Street address — used to look up your San Diego trash collection schedule.
- Reminder timing preference — the time or sunset offset you choose for your reminders.
- Payment information — processed directly and securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we only receive a secure payment token from Stripe.
We also automatically collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and analytics purposes. We use IP-based geolocation to understand the general area our visitors come from (city/ZIP level only).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely to:
- Send you weekly SMS trash and recycling reminders.
- Determine your San Diego trash collection schedule and which bins to put out.
- Process your subscription payment through Stripe.
- Respond to your support or cancellation requests.
- Improve the reliability and quality of our service.
3. SMS Messaging
By signing up, you consent to receive recurring automated SMS messages from TrashAlert SD at the phone number you provide. Message frequency is approximately once per week (the evening before your collection day). Standard message and data rates may apply.
To opt out, reply CANCEL or STOP to any message from us. You will receive one confirmation message and no further reminders will be sent. You can also cancel by emailing trashalertsd@gmail.com.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, share, or disclose your personal information to any third party, except:
- Twilio — our SMS delivery provider. Your phone number is transmitted to Twilio solely to deliver reminder messages.
- Stripe — our payment processor. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe under their own privacy policy.
- When required by law or to protect our legal rights.
5. Data Retention
We retain your phone number and address for as long as your subscription is active. After cancellation, we delete your personal information within 90 days unless retention is required by law.

7. Children's Privacy
TrashAlert SD is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
